Valley students will soon use mobile devices to enhance education

During his annual State of the District Address, Coachella Valley School District (CVSD) superintendent Daryl Adams discussed plans for a mobile device program. The idea is for students all over the Coachella Valley to use mobile devices to better support the education they receive at school. He said, “Students from kindergarten all the way to high school will be getting mobile devices in the next two years.” This means every student in the CVSD will be getting a mobile device to use at school and at home. The mobile technology program is expected to start in Jan. 2012. The funds for the mobile devices will come from grants and partnerships.

Indio celebrates the 20th annual International Tamale Festival

Once ranked by The Food Network as one of the top 10 “All American Food Festivals,” the city of Indio celebrated its 20th annual International Tamale Festival.

Over a hundred thousand people from across the Coachella Valley and the United States attended the festival this year to enjoy the food, including sweet, savory and gourmet tamales, rides and entertainment. People from all around camped out at the Riverside County fairgrounds days before the weekend festivities.

Like every other year, most tamale vendors also submitted their tasty tamales into the different categories to be judged as the best of the festival.
